This is a new collection of Jilly’s original large scale paintings on canvas and paper, which focus on the relationship between emotions and creativity.  The artist explores these themes by using her own unique style which is built on a vividly colorful pallet, accompanied by flowing movement, energy and imagery that delves into the mysteries of the unknown.

Fascinated by the relationship between the subconscious and the consciousness of thoughts, a variety of feelings and emotions are evoked in these paintings.  The portrayal of themes like birthing, intimacy, childhood innocence, grief, loss, anger, frustration, conflict, fear, freedom, dreams, self discovery and other familiar feelings and emotions from deep within us, are just waiting to surface. 

Although each new painting begins with an idea in mind, no painting is ever preplanned.  Spontaneity allows the images to be painted out, as they emerge throughout her painting process.  Each new painting is approached as an adventure and exploration of her own inner world.  Often times many layers of paint are applied, colors are added or changed, and sometimes the canvas is inverted, allowing Jilly to paint out images seen from that direction before the painting feels complete.

Her paintings are representational reflections of real life situations, thoughts, feelings and dreams that are painted in a surrealistic way.  Her hope is that this art will provoke a stirring of emotions within everyone who experiences it.
